All Authasas Advanced Authentication® data is stored within Active Directory, Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) for Server 2003, or Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) for Server 2008.
When deploying to Active Directory a schema extension may be applied, 9 attributes to the AD schema. Optionally, if an AD schema modification is not desired (typical in a pilot deployment), you may designate existing, unused AD attributes for which to store Authasas data.
Additionally ADAM and AD LDS directories are supported to create a separate repository for authentication data and policies. This allows for large or small organizations to deploy Authasas Advanced Authentication® with all of the benefit of using a corporate directory, while managing and replicating authentication data separately, and without adding to the size of the Active Directory.
Regardless of the directory technology implemented, all Authentication data is redundant and highly available.
Additional directory support is scheduled for development in 2011. This includes support for LDAP v3 directories such as Novell eDirectory, Oracle LDAP, Critical Path, Sun iPlanet, Computer Associates and IBM.
