Authasas was founded in 2009 as a subsidiary of BioXS International B.V. headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

BioXS has been in the strong authentication and remote access industry since 2001 as a distributor of biometric, token, SMS Passcode, smartcard and other hardware and software solutions.  BioXS achieved commercial success by building a strong partner network across Europe.  The Authentication Company was later founded as a services division of BioXS designed to provide consulting and deployment services to partners, VAR's and end user customers.

It was realized that strong authentication solutions for enterprise networks were severely lacking in functionality and scalability.  It was further realized that companies developing strong authentication solutions were being acquired and merged into larger organizations offering proprietary solutions.  Market conditions were ideal for the development of a non-proprietary, hardware agnostic, multi-authenticator software solution for Windows domain authentication.

in 2008, Authasas was formed in a joint venture between Reinier van der Drift and Menno Stijl.  With financial support from BioXS and private investors, research and development began on Authasas Advanced Authentication.  The product suite was released in June 2009 and was immediately accepted and deployed by enterprise customers.
